Cutest Hats!

I've said this before, I'm a sucker for Etsy. I usually get Gabriella's bows and crochet headbands from there, but I have now made a new discovery!

Recent Pics

My sister Karen sent Gabriella this "Marine" outfit while she was in Iraq this last time. She was finally able to fit in it and so she wore it for her Daddy on The Marine Corps. birthday, November 10th. In case you're wondering it says "I May Look Harmless, But I'm Being Raised By A Marine"!

Shopping for Christmas Attire...

I've been in search for Gabriella's Christmas attire for a while now. I haven't necessarily found anything I liked. I didn't want any of those "fluffy" too-girlish dresses made out of satin and bows that just look uncomfortable, ya know?. I wanted something cute, comfy, Chistmassy, cozy, and adorable for my sweet girl....well I found what I was looking for. We went to the Galleria a couple of weeks ago and this is what I found at babygap. You like?

Happy Thanksgiving

Today we'll celebrate our first "real" holiday as a family with Gabriella (not counting Halloween! Not that Halloween doesn't count, but Thanksgiving is like the kick off to the holidays and its a time to spend with family and loved ones. I feel so blessed, especially this year. It's been a great year since the birth of our first born, Gabriella. I enjoyed a healthy and beautiful pregnancy along with the birth of my daughter, am surrounded by a wonderful and supportive family, I have an awesome job despite the many layoffs people all over the nation have received, we have a beautiful cozy place we like to call home, and have many great people in our lives.

All things haven't been great. Like anything there are rough patches, but what matters is that at the end of the day we're with the people who mostly love and appreciate us and for that I am so thankful! I hope everyone enjoys this day as much as I will:) Happy Thanksgiving! May your day be filled with good food, good times, and good people.

Dear Santa,

Here's my wish list in no particular order. Notice I said "wish" list so I'll be happy if I get any of these for Christmas!

Guess metallic gold flats

A Bob jogging stroller that all three of us would benefit from

Some new lenses for my Nikon DSLR

And to kick off the holiday season I brought out my favorite Christmas book, "On Strike For Christmas". I read it for the first time last year and really enjoyed it, especially with a cup of hot cocoa and snuggled up with my favorite throw blanket:)

Happy 1 Week Old Birthday Joshua

Joshua is now one week old. He has been such a strong little man, as he's had to endure many procedures and surgery at the hospital. He is doing great and doctors are telling Jose and Melissa that he is on the right path to recovery. We're still praying for him and our dear friends to remain strong. Miss Gabriella cannot wait to meet little Joshua as well. They're going to grow up together-its going to be great! So Happy Birthday baby boy, remain strong for your mommy and daddy. We all cannot wait to meet you.
Love,

Dropped in for lunch

I just got back from lunch right now. Yeah being a kindergarten teacher means going to lunch first-at 10:30am, that's more like breakfast. Anyhow, since I wasn't too hungry yet, I decided to drop by the daycare and visit Miss Brie. This is another reason why I love having her so close to me. Not that I have to explain myself to anyone, but we've been given a hard time by certain people about us putting her in daycare. So this is just another reason, she's a mere 2 minutes away. She had just eaten and was taking her morning nap. Seeing her helps me get through the day!

First day at work/daycare

Just a quick post before I go to bed. Today was my first day back at work, and Gabriella's first day in daycare. Nunie and I decided to take her together so he followed us there to help me get her situated. (It reminded me of my students' parents taking them to class the first day of school). We took her sheets and blankets from home, her favorite crib musical toy, change of clothes etc. Everything to help her feel more at home. It may be a little over the top, but I slept with her sheets because babies get soothed my smelling their mothers. I read this in an article, so hey I did it!

I really thought it was going to be harder, although I missed her terribly and would give anything to be at home with her I didn't cry. I got to work, had a great day, and realized how much I enjoy my career. So being a mommy and having a career is possible, and since I don't have a choice at the time I might as well make the best out of it:P
One thing that gives me a huge peace of mind is that the daycare has cameras where I can access her room at all times, so I have her up in my computer screen all day. It won't be too bad this week, we go to school/daycare this week and then we're off the next for Thanksgiving vacation, how awesome is that?

One last thing, Gabriella has slept through the night for 3 days in a row. She's been going to bed at 9pm until 5am. I of course don't want to make a huge fiasco about it because I may just jinx myself, but I have to brag on my sweet girl....ahh she's perfect:)

Gabriella is 2 Months Old!

Girls Day Out

My sweet girl is 2 Months old today! We visited Gabriella's doctor, Dr. Filak on Thursday and she said Gabriella is growing beautifully! She's such a healthy girl and a little social butterfly. She had her 2 Month vaccines and she was such a trooper, she actually did better than I thought! I couldn't handle to watch her getting poked, so after Dr. Filak examined her I had to escape! Nunie stayed in with her and I heard her cry from the hallway:( When the nurse finished I went back in, and since it was her feeding time I fed her and she was all better! She ended up sleeping for about 4 hours, all while we shopped at the Galleria. I'm telling you she did great-not fussy, cranky-nada (just a little sleepy)!

Gabriella's 2 month stats:
Weight: 13 lbs 2oz (95th percentile)
Length: 22 1/2 inches (50th percentile)
Eating: 4oz every 3-4 hours
Clothing size: 0-3m or 3m
Diapers size: size 1 or 1-2 (Pampers Swaddlers)
Sleeping: last bottle around 7:30pm bedtime 8pm. Sleeps 3-4 hour stretches
Activities / Milestones: smiling, laughing, shrieking, reaching for objects, pushing up on arms to left head and chest; she holds her head up pretty good; she will turn to look for sounds that she hears
Here are pictures from her 2 month old photo shoot by Mommy & Daddy!

Gabriella is cooing and "baby talking" a lot more these days. She kicks and moves her arms while she shrieks...it's actually pretty funny. She's very observant of her surroundings. Last weekend we took her to an Aeros game. We're not big hockey fans, but it was Military Appreciation Day and we were invited by some friends, so we decided to go. Gabriella was looking around being very curious, and then she fell asleep once her usual bedtime came around. I also took her shopping by myself this past week. Although I thought this was going to keep me from shopping, I was still able to buy the gifts I needed. Another thing we did recently was buy Miss G's Christmas tree. You know those great marketing strategies(Christmas music playing) get me everytime. I must admit, I'm a big sucker for Christmas, what can I say? So we got her tree and a few ornaments. I'm waiting until they go on sale at Garden Ridge, I'm always up for a bargain! I love decorating my house for Christmas, its going to be even funner with her here. I've already warned Nunie that we have to go all out since its Gabriella's 1st Christmas!

I think I spoke to soon about her growing out of her clothes so quickly, she must have gone through another growth spurt because her 0-3 month clothes are fitting her short. So, although they fit her just fine (weight wise) the little pants fit her like capris, ha! I on the other hand have 7 more pounds to loose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. I saw my doctor yesterday and I got the ok to fully excerise with no restrictions. I need to tone up before this summer- cause I'm ready for a vacay with Miss G!

Call Me Crazy!

When we were at the hospital, I told Nunie (jokingly of course) that this would be our first and last baby. Not because I had a bad experience, but with my hormones raging post-delivery that's just how I felt. I knew in no time I would change my mind, maybe when Gabriella was a little older and I would start "craving" to have another baby. Well I was looking through my blog since the beginning of my pregnancy(I'm so glad that I documented everything) and I started to "miss" being pregnant. I really had a great healthy pregnancy, I felt great, I looked great...haha, and in the end had a beautiful baby, but I didn't think I would start to miss it this soon..(Again, it's probably my crazy hormones triggering this!). I would really like to get my Masters out of the way first though:)

Love you all,

Feeling a little nostalgic

I've been ignoring the fact that my little girl no longer fits into her newborn clothes (hasn't for a while now, ha) and she has her closet full of clothes that does fit her, but last night I realized I needed to start putting it up before I go back to work. So, that's what I did. I got all her cutsey tiny little onsies and sleepers and put them away. It makes me so sad that she's growing so fast. I wish they stayed newborns forever-minus the sleep deprivation they come with! Before I know it she's going to be walking,ugh...ok thanks for listening to my pity party:P

Snuggling with daddy

Since I didn't write an entry about Gabriella's 6th week, I'm going to combine it with the 7th week. So our little bean is growing every day. She definitely does not feel like a newborn anymore! I'm curious what she's going to weight-in and measure at her 2 month appointment coming up. She's awake a lot more during the day and she loves to hold conversations. Her daddy says that she's discovering all she's got-her hands, fingers, mouth, voice, feet, and toes- cause she's just all over the place. Our nights have gotten much much better, she wakes up at about 3am for her middle-of the-night feeding, but I'm not complaining. She's a really strong little girl, and of course I may sound biased, but I'm just going off of what people comment on. She can really hold her head pretty darn good for a 7 week old.
We celebrated Brie's 1st Halloween and pumpkin carving party, even though she was asleep for most of it, through all the noise and everything! We're really enjoying her so much, I'm sad to say I return to work in less than two weeks:( Now that's going to be a challenge!

Edit: I had to add that Gabriella used her bumbo for the first time at 7 weeks!
