Spring Break 2011

We had a pretty laid back Spring Break. We went to the Rodeo twice, once by ourselves and once with G. Other than that we hung out and took it easy by spending time at home and making a lot of trips to the park.

Wine Tasting Party!

After visiting the wine cellars for V-day I came up with the idea to have some friends over for a wine tasting party while we tasted, paired, and voted for the best wine. Each couple was asked to bring their favorite bottle of either red or white wine. I ordered customized wine labels to cover the name of their bottle and also labeled it with a number sticker so it would be anonymous. We bought two gift cards and the winner for each category (red and white) took them home.

I had a lot of fun planning and preparing for this small gatheirng and am proud to say that I cooked and baked everything minus the mini cheesecakes. I made sure to have a variety of foods that would pair up good with various wines. I made shrimp pasta primavera, spinach and artichoke dip, pecan covered cheese balls, cheese fondue with white wine, grape jelly meatballs, various breads with dipping oils, a variety of cheeses and grapes, cheesecake, brownies, and chocolate covered strawberries. Our signature drink was Moscato with fruit (strawberries, pineapple, grapes, and peaches). Everything came out delicious and our guest were very pleased. I also made a list specifying what wines paired with each food to bring out the best flavors together. Everyone had a blast!

V-day

We headed to some local wine cellars/wineries and had fun doing chocolate and wine pairings and tastings.

I also baked over 60 cupckes (mini and regular) for my students and G's daycare party
